LED pole lights or LED security lights are an integral part of outdoor lighting.
Here are some questions that you should ask and know answers to, about LED pole lights.
Why Consider LEDs at all?
The primary reason that people prefer LED pole lights is because of their lifespan.
A long life span is an important consideration for these lights. Here is a brief comparison of all lighting options in LED lighting.
LED -- 25,000 to 100,000 hours(5 years-10 years)
Incandescent light bulb -- 1,200 hours
High and low-pressure sodium light -- 20,000 hours to 24,000 hours(2 years-2.5 years)
Halogen light bulb -- 2,500 hours(6 months max)
Mercury vapor light -- 24,000 hours(2.5 years)
Fluorescent light bulb -- 7,000 hours to 15,000 hours(9 months-1.5 years)
Metal Halide -- 6,000 hours to 15,000 hours(1 year-2 years)
High-intensity discharge light -- 6,000 hours to 24,000 hours.(9 months-2.5 years)
As one might observe, LED lights are one of the best lights in terms of long life.
Though the initial cost of installation of these lights is quite high, long term savings is far higher with LED lights compared to any other lights out there.
Which Fit Is The Best Of All?
There is no single way to mount LED pole lights, but many.
Here are some of the ways to mount LED pole lights.
Slip Fit Mount-
These are the most common type of mount. It has a sliding-type mechanism that goes up to 2 3/8 inch over a standard LED pole light. The head of the mount adjustable, which is considered to be a great feature, so this is a great mount type as well.
Flood Mount
Flood mount lights are used on walls and roofs. They have a bracket that runs sideways, which helps it in up and down tilt. These mounts are not very popular due to the fact that their width is just too much for metal poles.
Arm Mount
Cleanest in the looks, these mounts can be screwed straight into the pole. Another great advantage is that one does not need an adapter with these lights.
Yoke Mount
It finds applications in many different scenarios, but it is not always feasible and practical.
Yoke mount can not hold lights as good as other mounts, so many prefer wall mount over Yoke mount.
